Meet Dave Your Personal Mechanic
Dave's journey began in the summer of 1978 when he was just 14 years old. He started working on his summer breaks at an engine rebuild shop in Seatac, WA where he was responsible for disassembling and cleaning engines that would later be rebuilt.
He then completed the automotive mechanics program at Renton Vocational Technical Institute (RVTI) from 1981 to 1983. During this time, he attended RVTI full time Monday to Friday , 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. In addition to his studies, he worked full-time at a full-service gas station in Tukwila, WA from 4:00 PM to Midnight.
After graduation , Dave worked full-time as a general mechanic at a car rental agency in Seatac, WA from 1983 to 1985, applying the automotive degree he had just earned. While working at the car rental agency, he noticed a help wanted sign at the tune-up center across the street for weekend work. Dave started working Saturdays and Sundays while continuing to work at the car rental agency, rolling his toolbox across Highway 99 every weekend. Within one month, the owner of the tune-up center offered Dave a full-time position working Monday through Saturday. He worked his way up to lead mechanic/manger within six months and worked there from 1985 to 1988.
In 1988, Dave founded a mobile mechanic service in Kent, WA with one van and became an entrepreneur. The following year, at the age of 25, he acquired the largest fleet account in the Puget Sound area, which belonged to the largest telecommunications company on this side of the country. He expanded the company into a six-van fleet, working both day and swing shifts seven days a week, servicing hundreds of vehicles in King and Pierce counties. In 1990, he further expanded the company by adding a storefront auto repair shop in Seatac, WA. Dave owned and operated the business through 2004.
